Inflation in Iraq rises by 0.4%

The Ministry of Planning announced on Tuesday that the rate of inflation during the month of September by (0.4%) from the month of August. While the annual inflation during the month to (0.4%) compared to September 2016, when it reached (104.6%). The percentage of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.7%, clothes and shoes by 0.2%, housing by 0.7%, health by 0.2%, transportation by 0.1% Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.5%.

The official index of the Ministry of Planning Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement issued by the Information Office of the Ministry that the general index for the month of 2017 in Iraq was (105.0%) and the inflation index base rate of (0.2%) from the previous month and increased by (1.3%) compared to September 2016.

The monthly change for the month of 2017 compared to August 2017 was due to the food and non-alcoholic beverages sector (0.7%) contributing 47.9% to the monthly change rate. The changes are due to the increase of the fish group by 2.1% The former group has higher milk, cheese and eggs by 0.4% than the previous month. With the vegetables group rising by (4.1%) from the previous month. (0.1%) compared to the previous month, indicating that the tobacco division maintained the same level of monthly change, while the clothing and shoes section increased by (0.2%) contributing 2.9% The rise was due to the rise in the clothing group by 0.2% and the footwear group by 0.1%.

The Ministry of Planning Spokesman pointed out that the Housing Department recorded a rise of 0.7%, contributing 47.0% to the monthly change rate. The increase was due to the increase in the water and electricity supply group by 4.8% (0.1%) contributed 1.5% to the monthly change rate. While the Health Department recorded an increase of (0.2%) to contribute (1.9%) in the rate of monthly change. Pointing out that the Transport Section recorded an increase of (0.1%) to contribute (3.6%) in the rate of monthly change. While the Department of Communication maintained the same level of monthly change. The Department of Entertainment and Culture recorded a decrease of 1.7%, contributing 7.0% to the monthly change rate. Hindawi said that the Education Department maintained the same level of monthly change rate. The Department of Restaurants recorded a decrease of 0.1%, contributing 0.2% to the monthly change rate. The miscellaneous goods and services section increased by 0.5%, contributing 5.3% to the monthly change rate.

Hindawi said that the annual change in September 2017 compared to September 2016 was due to the food and non-alcoholic beverages sector (3.1%), contributing (202.1%) to the annual rate of change and the changes due to the decrease of bread and cereals by 0.9%. As well as the decrease of the meat group by (1.1%). With the decline of the fish group by (15.3%). The group of vegetables and eggs decreased by (2.3%), in addition to the decrease of the group of oils and fats by (1.4%). (0.1%). The Clothing and Footwear division recorded a decrease of 0.2% in the annual rate of change due to the decrease in the prices of the clothing group. The housing sector increased by (4.3%) contributing 279.3% to the annual rate of change due to the rise in the rent group by 2.0%, the water and electricity supply group by 25.4% and the fuel group by (2.3%).

Hindawi said that the household equipment and maintenance sector recorded a decrease of (1.5%) to contribute (21.7%) to the annual rate of change due to the decrease in the prices of furniture and equipment by 2.0% and the decrease of household appliances by 1.2% (1.0%) contributed 11.1% to the annual rate of change. The Transport Department recorded a rise of 0.2%, contributing 6.7% to the annual rate of change. The Communications Department recorded a decrease of (1.4%) to contribute (11.1%) to the annual rate of change. The Recreation and Culture Section registered a decline of 2.7%, contributing 10.6% to the annual rate of change. The Education Department recorded an increase of 21.9%, contributing 46.5% to the annual rate of change. The Restaurants Department also recorded a decline of 0.3%, contributing 0.9% to the annual rate of change. Finally, miscellaneous goods and services increased by 0.6%, contributing 6.0% to the annual rate of change. The official spokesman of the Ministry of Planning said that the price survey for the month of September did not include the provinces of Anbar and Ninewa did not calculate the record because of the prevailing conditions.
