Korek Telecom stops its services in Iraqi governorates

Iraq’s Korek Mobile Company announced on Saturday that its services in five southern provinces, after its main equipment in Babil province, had been attacked on Friday evening and nine of its employees were kidnapped in a new development that casts a shadow over Kurdish investments in Iraq’s provinces after a referendum. The company said in a statement that its main networks in the middle Euphrates province of Babylon, was attacked “terrorist” from a group of gunmen driving 4 cars, pointing out that the attack led to damage and material losses, which led to the company’s service in five provinces: Najaf , Karbala, Diwaniyah, Samawah and Babil.
Cork is one of the three major mobile phone companies in Iraq, with its headquarters in the Kurdistan region of Iraq and owned by Kurdish businessmen.
