Kurdistan calls for calm and dialogue and prevent tension with Baghdad

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani said during his meeting with the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General Jan Kubic that Kurdistan would calm down the situation and prevent any attempt to cause tension, pointing out that these are serious issues and necessitates sitting and serious dialogue between Arbil and Baghdad.

Barzani met last night with Kubic and his accompanying delegation, he said, adding that during the meeting they discussed the latest developments in the post-referendum phase and the suspension of flights to and from Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports and the Baghdad post after the referendum.

The statement pointed out that Barzani stressed the position of the regional government to solve the problems between Arbil and Baghdad through dialogue and negotiation, noting the importance of the role of the United Nations in this area.

The statement added that Barzani pointed out that the Kurdistan Region with calm and prevent any attempt to increase tension, pointing out that these issues are serious and need to sit at the negotiating table and hold a serious dialogue between Arbil and Baghdad.

The statement added that another axis of the meeting has seen talk about the reactions of neighboring countries and the international community on the referendum in this regard, Barzani said that the step presented by the Kurdistan Region does not constitute any form of any threat to any state, stressing that (referendum) will be a reason for more Stability because the region has always been a factor in the stability of the region and will remain so and will always extend the hand of peace to the environment and its neighbors and will continue this policy.

Barzani said that the Kurdistan Region will continue to fight against terrorists and "support" the displaced and refugees fleeing the oppression of terrorism and stresses the protection of all national and religious components without discrimination, pointing out that this is an important part and head of the policy and culture of the Kurdistan Region and will remain so.
