Observers: stop financial transactions with the Kurdistan Region "collective punishment" against the Kurdish people

Experts and observers in political and economic affairs have reported that the Iraqi parliament intends to issue tough sanctions against the Kurdish people.

"The attempt to issue the Iraqi parliament for a decision to stop financial transactions with the Kurdistan Region will negatively affect the liquidity and financial inflation and we need the hard currency," said the expert on economic affairs. Adding that "the citizen will be the first victims of the decision of the Iraqi parliament if taken by virtue of high commodity prices and the exchange rate of the US dollar."

The House voted on Tuesday to "include the wording of a resolution in its session on the suspension of financial transactions and communications with the Kurdistan Region," and made this decision by the Finance Committee to the Presidency of Parliament.

In the same context, political analyst Akab al-Hayali, that the Iraqi parliament is taking steps "not calculated" towards the Kurdish people, which will bear the consequences of the suspension of financial transactions with the Kurdistan Region.

"The decision is a collective punishment against the Kurdish people," Hayali said.
