Kurdish Movement for Change confirmed Wednesday that it is impossible to nominate the Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani for a fourth term, according to the constitution, noting that it submitted a candidate for the post to run in the upcoming presidential elections.
"The next elections for the presidency of the Kurdistan region will be without the participation of the regional president Massoud Barzani because of the Kurdish constitution, which allows the ascendancy of the presidency for two sessions without renewal," said a member of the provincial parliament for the movement Piston Super.
He added that "Barzani exceeded the Constitution throughout its third session, which divided it into two parts, the first was through the Parliament of the region and the second through the Shura Council after the suspension of parliament under the pretext of fighting terrorism and can not be nominated for a fourth session at all."
"The change was nominated for the presidency of the region Ahmed Tawfiq Rahim and the Kurdistan Democratic Party to nominate a replacement for Barzani, otherwise the elections will be held void, including the parliamentary."
