DUHOK, June 20 (AKnews) - An informed Kurdish source today ruled out that a meeting will take place soon between the Kurdistan Region's President Massoud Barzani and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, as media reports stated earlier.

The anonymous source said: "The media reports that spoke about the meeting seek to create doubts among the parties seeking to withdraw confidence from Maliki and his government.

“Parties in the State of Law Coalition (SLC) may be behind the launch of such leaks where reports stated earlier that a meeting will be held between Maliki and Moqtada al-Sadr but this did not happen."

Iraqi and Kurdish media stated that many active political figures are working to calm the situation by holding a meeting between Barzani and Maliki while other sources stated that the discussion is taking place about the place for holding the meeting, indicating that Barzani requested holding it in Erbil while Maliki seeks to hold it in Baghdad.

The blocs seeking to withdraw confidence from PM Maliki formed a legal committee that includes two representatives from each party. The committee began its work in Erbil to prepare the files to interrogate Maliki in the Council of Representatives after the failure to obtain the support of President Talabani.

PM Maliki is expected to be interrogated soon in the Council of Representatives about various cases. He will be faced with about 20 questions.
