The head of the chamber of commerce and industry in Sulaymaniyah, Serawun Mohammed, on Monday, the resumption of trade between Kurdistan and Baghdad after a halt for five days.

"The commercial movement resumed between Kurdistan and Baghdad after a five-day stopover, and the resumption of the trade movement came after the efforts of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry with its Iraqi counterpart," Mohammed said in a press release on October 2 2017.

As of today, hundreds of trucks from the cities of south and central Iraq have arrived in Sulaymaniyah for trade and the transportation of construction materials and food, creating commercial traffic in the local market.

He assured the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sulaymaniyah citizens and traders that they will continue in their attempt to bring commercial movement with Iraq to normal.

It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi Council of Representatives had issued a number of resolutions against Kurdistan after the organization of the referendum on independence, which also included Kirkuk and disputed areas on 25 September 2017, and ordered Baghdad to stop all international flights to the airports of Sulaymaniyah and Arbil and entered into force on September 29, 2017 C
