ERBIL — Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi posted over 15 statements on his official Facebook account against Kurdistan Region's independence referendum in just four hours.
In 19 different statements on Facebook, Abadi reiterated his opposition to the independence referendum of Kurdistan and demanded the world countries to cut all diplomatic and trade ties with Kurdistan Region.
The referendum proceeded on Monday, September 25, regardless of the strong opposition from Baghdad, neighbors and international community.
Around five million people from different ethnicities and religions take part in the vote across the Kurdistan Region’s territories, including Kirkuk and other areas outside the official boundaries of the region.
