The UN Security Council opposes the referendum of Kurdistan and calls for war according to the Iraqi constitution
The UN Security Council has unanimously expressed its concern over the destabilizing effects of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) project in holding a referendum on June 25, the UN Security Council said in a statement.
In a statement, the council warned that "the planned referendum will reduce efforts to ensure the safe and voluntary return of more than three million refugees and internally displaced persons" pointing out that the referendum comes at a time when confrontations are taking place in a supportive organization and all issues must be resolved The relationship between the federal government in Baghdad, and its counterpart in Kurdistan through the organized dialogue and compromise solutions with the support of the international community to be dialogue in accordance with the provisions of the Iraqi constitution and support the efforts of the United Nations to facilitate dialogue among Iraqi stakeholders.
The foreign ministers of Iraq, Iran and Turkey, who opposed the referendum, agreed to study measures against the region if the referendum on independence continues, after meeting on the sidelines of the General Assembly in New York.
