Recognizing the need to support and revitalize the investment and reconstruction sector for its importance in rehabilitating the infrastructure and providing services to citizens and achieving development in order to stimulate the economic cycle, the Council of Ministers approved the functions and mechanisms of the work of the Supreme Committee for Investment and Reconstruction, which the Council has already formed to take decisions on the core issues and strategic issues These tasks are to encourage investment and draw plans for major reconstruction projects and follow up and remove obstacles.
The committee is chaired by the Prime Minister, Dr. Haider Abadi, and includes ministers of finance, planning, housing, industry and minerals, the director of the Prime Minister's Office, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank and the Chairman of the Investment Authority.
The committee will follow up infrastructure projects, natural resource extraction projects, ports, airports, roads and railways, as well as mineral and petrochemical industries, dams, reservoirs and irrigation projects.
He added that the committee will continue to analyze and study the obstacles facing the investment process in order to remove them and have the authority to instruct the National Investment Authority to grant investment licenses once the legal requirements and conditions of the projects submitted to the committee are met.
Al-Hadithi said that the committee has the powers to supervise the allocation of land for strategic projects and to direct the single window to obtain approvals and complete the procedures of the relevant authorities and to adopt a period of time for completion; besides directing the security authorities concerned to remove the excesses from the land intended for investment, Security for investment projects.
