Nomination of the head of the National Union bloc to serve as secretary of the Parliament of Kurdistan

The Kurdistan Regional Parliament (KRG) announced on Friday the nomination of Iraqi parliament speaker for the post of secretary of the parliament of Kurdistan in the first session of the council, stressing that this comes after the boycott of the Movement of Change and the Islamic Group to participate in the first session.

"According to Article 18 in the rules of procedure of the Parliament of Kurdistan, the Vice-President will take the chair in the absence of the Speaker of the Parliament," adding that "Jaafar Aymanki will preside over the first session of parliament after the absence of Yusuf Mohamed of the Movement for Change."

He added that "the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan nominated its president, Bekr Talabani, to the secretary of parliament after the absence of the representative of the Islamic Group in the Council, the secretary of the parliament," stressing that "there is consensus among the three blocs to put the subject of holding the referendum in the first session of Parliament in a timely manner and not to postpone it."


A member of the Kurdistan Parliament of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Siham Omar, earlier on Friday, the presence of more than 70 members in the first session of the Parliament of Kurdistan scheduled to be at seven in the evening.

On Friday, the Movement for Change and the Islamic Group (Jemaah Islamiah) announced a boycott of the parliament session in the Kurdistan region.

The adviser in the presidency of the Parliament of the Kurdistan region Tariq Jawhar had confirmed, earlier in the day, Friday, a meeting of the parliament this evening, likely to be chaired by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jafar Aminki, who belongs to the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
