The joint forces reclaim an "important" route between al-Halabi and Tal Afar

The joint forces on Sunday restored an important route linking Tal Afar to the village of Al-Mahalibiya.

An officer in the 9th Armored Division of the "Al-Ghad Press", said that "the band and the support forces have restored an important road linking the village of Mahalabiya Tal Afar west of Mosul.

"At the same time, the army recovered the village of Simpak Hill at the same road," the officer said.

The head of the armed forces, General Haider al-Abadi, announced the launch of the liberation of Tal Afar, dawn Sunday. The announcement came in a similar format to the announcement of the battle in Mosul. Abadi wore the anti-terrorism uniforms and announced the start of the battle late at night. He had a map in one of the military posts.

This came 40 days after the end of the battle for the liberation of Mosul, which lasted 9 months, in which the security forces engaged in long fighting with elements of the organization, especially in the Old City.

Tal Afar, a long-time stronghold of the Da'dash organization, 80 km west of Mosul, has isolated the city from other areas controlled by al-Qaeda.
The city is surrounded by the joint security forces, the popular crowd from the south and the Peshmerga fighters from the north, and an estimated 2,000 militants are still in the city.
