Al-Ahrar bloc will stage a sit-in inside the Iraqi Parliament in case major political blocs insisted on approving Saint Lego method (9.1), Rasoul al-Ta'i, al-Ahrar bloc MP, warned on Monday

In a press statement, al-Ta'i said that in case of not voting on 4.1 percent or 5.1 percent maximum for allocating seats in party-list proportional representation, al-Ahrar bloc will hold a sit-in inside the parliament.

Conflict over provincial councils' election bill may exacerbate further if opponents and supporters maintained their stances particularly major political blocs endorsing the voting system (9.1)

This system ensures that major blocs win a huge number of seats in the provincial councils under the pretext this provides power to these councils to pass the necessary legislations and not to allow small blocs to hamper their work

On Friday, Hussein al-Zubaidi, a leader in the Iraqi National Forces Coalition said that voting in favor of the new electoral system (9.1) is injustice to the Iraqi people and small and independent political blocs. https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/en/story/15355/Ahrar-bloc-to-stage-parliament-sit-in-in-objection-to-Saint-Lego
