IMIS won't be dismantled: Abadi

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Saturday that IMIS militia is still under the command of clerics and the state, and it will not be dismantled.

During his speech at 'Jihad and Victory Fatwa' conference held today in Baghdad, Abadi added that Abadi is working for Iraq and it will not be dismantled.
He stressed 'all factions should partake in the liberation efforts.

Iraq has broken the back of ISIS after retaking Mosul and preparations are being made to liberate Tal Afar, he further said.

After liberating all territories, our next battle will be unity, Abadi noted.
These comments come amid mounting calls for dismantling IMIS for the heinous crimes it commits against civilians, especially the Sunnis.

Sadrist leader Moqtada al-Sadr on Friday called for integrating 'disciplined IMIS recruits into the armed forces, on strict conditions, calling on militias to handover arms to government amicably.
