Barzan al-Tikriti's family asks three countries to intervene to lift their money freeze and lift the travel ban


Al-Ghad Press, on Monday, received a document issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating that a request was filed by Barzan al-Tikriti, the brother-in-law of former President Saddam Hussein, asking the intervention of Libya, Turkey and Qatar to lift the freeze on financial assets. The document, signed by senior Interior Ministry Undersecretary Nizar Khairallah, states that "Barzan Ibrahim Hassan al-Tikriti's lawyers are asking to be removed from the list of assets frozen and travel bans imposed by Security Council Resolution 1518 of 2003."

She added that "the lawyer was based on what he says about the termination of the justification for including these sanctions after 13 years and the freezing of their assets in Switzerland in their bank accounts referred to in the petition, without the confiscation of the Swiss authorities."

She pointed out that "the names of the Tikriti family are Mohammed Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Sajj Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Ali Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Nur Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, and entitled Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti."

"The application was sent from the lawyer, to Libya, Turkey and Qatar, as the countries where members of the Barzan al-Tikriti family are naturalized, to obtain information or comments about the Tikriti family's request and to discuss with Iraq if they so desire," he said.
