The Ministry of Communications has completed 93 percent of the national Internet project, which includes more than 2000 cabins distributed between Baghdad and the provinces, stressing that the project, which will enter the service by the end of this year will achieve national security of Iraq. He added that the project will provide large Internet capacity to the country at reasonable prices, compared to the Internet available through the Wi-Fi and Scoop Sky, pointing at the same time that his ministry formed follow-up committees on the prices of Internet capacity, which will be available to citizens at prices prepared by the ministry. Al-Rashed stressed that the project will make Iraq an international country and will generate significant financial returns and employment opportunities that contribute to the development of the public and private economic sector, as well as the role of the optical network to preserve national and international security.
For his part, the director of the General Company for Services of the International Network and Informatics Engineer Ali Al-Qasab in the Ministry said in an exclusive interview to "Sabah" on the sidelines of the conference, that his company has completed 93% of the project of the optical network (the national project of the Internet), noting that it will work to achieve a huge economic return of the state In addition to his ministry, which will reflect positively on all sectors.
He said that the monthly subscription to the Internet through the optical network will be estimated at about 42 thousand dinars, which will provide telephone and Internet and satellite channels via the optical network, explaining that it will do initially in the areas completed the project within the capital Baghdad and the provinces of the country.
Al-Qassab revealed the development of 2400 lightboxes distributed among the regions and governorates of the country in order to ensure the provision of optical network services. Each cabin will provide four million and 200 thousand light lines to be delivered to residential homes, shops and institutions through the owners of internet towers and companies that will market Network services which will be announced during the next few years.
