Integrity Commission: Cabinet approved the draft law on graft
The Integrity Commission announced on Sunday the approval of the draft law on the proposed illegal graft bill.

In a statement received by Al-Ghad Press, a copy of which was obtained by the Council of Ministers, the Cabinet approved the draft law on illegal graft which was proposed. The draft law was referred to the State Consultative Council for the purpose of due diligence.

She added that "the draft law will be returned after being audited by the State Consultative Council to the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, which will refer him to the House of Representatives in order to submit to the vote," noting that "the proposal of this draft law was to indicate the offenses and criminal offenses associated with the financial recognition of the taxpayers With this duty set by the law of the executive body No. 30 of 2011 ".

"The draft law set penalties or penalties for any act, offense or violation committed by those charged with the obligation to disclose financial disclosure, and expanded the categories covered to include a larger number of taxpayers." The Commission considered the importance of their coverage and set clear time limits And specific to the taxpayer's disclosure form. "

"Article 8 of the proposed draft law stipulates that" Any person who deliberately conceals information required in the form shall submit a false information that has been proven to have an illicit earning relationship. "Article 11/1 states that" A criminal action shall be initiated by the Commission against any person accused of committing any of the offenses set out in this law. "

"One of the positive reasons in law is to protect public money and to subject those who exploit their jobs to illicit enrichment to legal accountability."

In response to the requirements of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which was signed by Iraq under Law No. 35 of 2007, article 20 of which states: "Each State Party shall, subject to its Constitution and the fundamental principles of its legal system, Legislative measures and other measures to criminalize the unlawful enrichment of a public official, ie a substantial increase in its assets, which can not be reasonably explained in relation to its legitimate income ").

The country is witnessing cases of corruption in many ministries and departments, which requires the existence of a law to reduce cases of corruption, which forces officials to disclose their financial liabilities to indicate the existence of cases of corruption or not.
