Iraqi Kurdistan seeks to export its agricultural products to Qatar

The Chamber of Commerce of the province of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region of Iraq is ready to cooperate and develop trade and investment with the State of Qatar, stressing that the continued communication between Qatar and the Kurdistan region through flights almost daily will contribute to the expansion of trade exchange between the two sides.
The head of Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sulwan Mohammed said in an interview that “a delegation of trade and investment country led by Qatar’s Vice President of the Commerce Council, Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tuwar al-Kuwari visited the province of Sulaymaniyah.”
He added that “the visit aims to develop trade and investment relations between the two sides as well as to inform the delegation on the opportunities and the movement of trade and investment in Sulaymaniyah.”
“The Chamber of Commerce of Sulaymaniyah discussed with the Qatari delegation about the possibility of exporting the fruit of the Kurdistan region to the State of Qatar, as well as informing the Qatari delegation on the opportunities to establish projects in the agricultural sector in Sulaymaniyah.”
He pointed out at the same time that “is scheduled to visit a trade delegation from the region Doha during the coming period to participate in trade and investment activities there.”
The visit of the Qatari trade delegation at a time faced by farmers in the Kurdistan region of Iraq difficulties in marketing some of their summer crops, which negatively affected their financial revenues amid demands to find outlets for the export of their products.
