Shiite reference policy provides "advice" to Kurdistan and warns of "disaster"

The Iraqi Shiite cleric Muhammad Taqi al-Mudari, on Friday, offered "advice" to the Kurdistan Regional Government that "its demands are within reasonable limits," in reference to the Kurdish efforts to independence from Iraq.

"The Kurdish brothers advise their demands to be reasonable within the framework of the constitution," the school said in its weekly statement to the twilight news.

He added that "the violation of some of the provisions of the Constitution may invite others to reconsider the origin of the Constitution."

"One of the basic provisions of the constitution is the federal system, which is the basis of the brotherhood of the north in advanced autonomy," the school said.

He warned the Shiite cleric of "the consequences of a disaster if no work was done by them under the Constitution and with the consent of all the Iraqi people."

Iraq's independence referendum is scheduled for September 25 in the three provinces and disputed areas.

The Iraqi government says the referendum is incompatible with the constitution and will not deal with it.
