Iraqi traders market Kurdistan wheat to the center and the south

The Federation of Importers and Exporters of the Kurdistan Region on the marketing of Iraqi traders most of the wheat crop of farmers in the region.
According to agricultural sources in the Kurdistan Region, the volume of wheat production in the region registered more than two million and 600 thousand tons, while these sources confirm that the production of wheat exceeds self-sufficiency.
The Committee on Agriculture in the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region, said that the cultivation of wheat in the region is facing great difficulties because of delayed payment of dues of farmers for more than three years, while the government of Kurdistan to buy wheat crop from the farmers of the region instead of handing over to the federal government.
However, Sheikh Mustafa Sheikh Abdulrahman, president of the Federation of Importers and Exporters of Kurdistan Region, told journalists from Sulaymaniyah that Arab traders bought most of the wheat crop from Kurdish farmers, which were not marketed by the federal government.
He pointed out that these traders have sold it – wheat – in central and southern Iraq.
