Abadi: Iraq’s production of wheat amounted to more than half a million tons during the current year

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Tuesday that Iraq’s wheat production during the current year amounted to more than half a million tons. He also said that half of the oil exported from the Kurdistan region to Turkey is from oil fields in Kirkuk.
Abadi said in a press conference that “today closed the marketing of wheat and barley in the whole of Iraq, and for the first time we recognize the financial maturity of the farmer within two weeks so as not to be exploited by intermediaries,” noting that the state was in the past to assign mediators at the expense of the farmer.
He added that “Iraq’s production of wheat during the current year amounted to more than half a million tons, which is very little,” stressing that “this is the real production of Iraq, indicating that in previous years imported wheat from several countries and sold to the government as a domestic production and subsidized price,” pointing That “the government will continue to support the peasants.”
He said that “half of the oil exported from the Kurdistan region to Turkey is from the oil fields in Kirkuk, and we called on the Turks in the earlier need to preserve Kirkuk oil because it is Iraqi oil,” adding that “the Kurds seized two thirds of oil wells in the Kurdistan region in general 2014 “.
