ERBIL, June 11 (AKnews) - Many parliamentarians are ready to sign the letter for withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and will fulfill the legal quorum, said a member of Iraq's Al-Ahrar (Liberals) bloc, headed by Muqtada al-Sadr.
malikiAhrar is united and collected all its votes in the last few hours, insisting on removing confidence from Maliki.
Majida Abdul Latif told AKnews: "After the president of Iraq returned the request letter for withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, many members of parliament are now ready to sign the withdrawal letter.
"All Iraq's lists insist on the withdrawal process because this is a national issue for liberating Iraq from a dictator who didn’t serve the country with a single service."
Abdul Latif questioned: "How come in a country with 33 million people you won't be able to find a person to replace al-Maliki, or this is the return to before 2003?"
Talabani said in statement yesterday that the number of collected signatures amounted to 160, not enough for the legal quorum of 164. For that reason Talabani decided not to send the signatures to the House of Representatives and returned them to the Kurdistan Region's presidency. https://www.aknews.com/en/aknews/4/311698/
