Ministry of Transport decides to develop Basra International Airport

The Minister of Transport, Kazem Finjan, said Sunday that he seeks to activate the open sky project of Basra airport, in line with the State’s directives towards making Basra the economic capital.
“We have decided to prepare for a workshop that will take the task of making Basra airport an open airport under the supervision of the General Civil Aviation Corporation and with the participation of Iraqi Airways, and inviting international airlines, air authorities, international aviation bodies, service providers and media organizations to participate in the International Conference, A link between East and West by distinguishing its location between continents, taking into consideration that marketing is the key tool for any successful project. Through our studies, we have explained in detail the advantages of the Open Sky Project of Basra Airport Which we seek to activate and marketing to it through Basra as the port city of Iraq, and commensurate with the powers granted to us under the Civil Aviation Law No. 148 / Instructions No. 6, paragraph 3.3 “.
He pointed out that “this decision comes in tune with the orientations of the Iraqi state towards making Basra the economic capital, Basra or Iraq, and the treasury of the Arabs, and the eye of the world, and the window on which Iraq is overlooking the vast seas.”
