The Canadian Federal Court has ordered the confiscation of a shipment of crude oil sold by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to foreign buyers at the request of the central oil ministry, according to news reports.

According to the documents provided to the court, the tanker "Neverland" was loaded with the shipment of oil in the Turkish port of Ceyhan, where data showed for the service "Reuters" to monitor ships, that the tanker was off the coast of the province of "Nova Scotia" in the Northwest Atlantic.

The Iraqi oil ministry has filed a lawsuit against the Vitol Commodity Trading Company and its subsidiaries, including Mansell Limited, which is chartered to the carrier, and Vinnaval Spa de Navision, the owner of the tanker, and demanded $ 32.5 million.

In its lawsuit, the Iraqi Oil Ministry said it had "notified Vitol before buying the shipment that any purchase of crude from the Kurdistan Regional Government would violate the rights of the Iraqi people."

The documents to the court claim that "Vitol went ahead and bought the crude and rejected demands to unload the shipment to the control of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil."
