Call to establish Islamic banks' capital in Iraq

Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Chairman of Iraqi Islamic Banks Association Sadiq al-Shammari called for forming an Islamic banks' capital and finding new tools to diversify their financing.

He disclosed that there are 17 Islamic banks in Iraq at the current stage.

These banks controlled a good share in the Iraqi markets, particularly after the issuance of their law of 2015 which organized the functions of the Islamic banks in the country, he added.

Al-Shammari disclosed that the capital of the Iraqi Islamic banks reached to 3 billion dollars.
