Rapprochement bids between National Alliance, Sadrist Movement ahead of elections

The Iraqi political scene has witnessed discussions and intensive talks that have resulted in forming new blocs and alliances as many Islamic blocs and parties have struck deals with other secular parties

The Iraqi MP of the National Alliance Abdul Karim Abtan said in a statement that the Sadrist Movement and the National Alliance will participate in the Iraqi Parliamentary elections on one list to defeat the political sectarianism

The Sadrist Movement figures convened meetings with the National Alliance many times and they agreed on developing a plan with points in common including crisis management, the return of displaced persons, building of infrastructure of the retaken areas, political and electoral visions

He added that the rapprochement between the National Alliance and Sadrist Movement worries many Iraqi citizens as the two parties have the similar point of views including respect Iraq's unit, fighting against corruption and rebuilding Iraq into a civilian democratic state*

The Iraqi situation is needed to correct the previous political visions after the Iraqi military has retaken ISIS-held areas he added.

It has not been announced till that moment whether they will participate in the Iraqi Parliamentary elections with the party list system as the alliance and some other parties have not got the necessary electoral inducement yet he asserted.

The Iraqi MP Magda al-Tamimi, of the Liberals Bloc close to Shia cleric Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr, said in a statement that the Sadrist Movement will form this bloc to overcome the sectarian disputes that destroyed Iraq

She added that the rapprochement between the National Alliance and the Sadrist Movement is a correct step as it will form a strong parliamentary bloc that will legislate many laws in the next few years.

The Iraqi Parliamentary elections will be held soon and there are many bills that needed to be approved and the next period is a real test to the rapprochement between the National Alliance and the Sadrist Movement and it will produce results that could determine the conduct of the Parliamentary elections she asserted.

The electoral bloc has not been formed yet to participate in the Parliamentary elections and she hoped that the next period would produce the desired results she continued.
