Iraqi Military Close to Declare Full Liberation of Mosul MOSUL —
Iraqi forces announced Wednesday control over al-Faruq neighbourhood within Old City district in Mosul.
The commander of Nineveh Operations Abdul Amir Rasheed Yarallah said the Iraqi counter-terrorism forces managed to take full control of al-Faruq neighbourhood in Old City district in west Mosul and inflict Islamic State (IS) militants with significant damage.
By the liberation of Faruq area, the Iraqi forces are close to conclude Mosul operation and declare full liberation of the city which had been controlled by militants since June 2014.
The operation to retake Mosul from IS commenced on October 17th of the last year. The militant group is now in control of only 1% of the city.
