Al-Abbadi's office condemns Saad al-Mutlaibi's remarks about the Kurds: threatening the civil peace and spreading racism
Dan Saad al-Hadithi, media spokesman for Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, on Thursday, the statements of what he called "a member of the Baghdad Provincial Council" on the Kurds, indicating that these statements threaten civil peace and the spread of racism.

A member of the Baghdad Provincial Council for the rule of law Saad Almtalibi, vowed in a press statement, on Wednesday, the Kurds to withdraw their Iraqi nationality and expel them from the capital Baghdad in the event of voting on the referendum secession of the Kurdistan region.

"We express our surprise and condemnation of the statements made by a member of the Baghdad Provincial Council regarding the Kurdish citizens in the capital Baghdad and other areas," al-Hadithi said in a statement received by Al-Ghad Press.

He added that "spreading rumors such as these positions and trends that threaten the civil peace and the spread of racism and hatred among the sons of one country, the current government headed by Haider Abadi since its first day that there is no citizen in the country first degree and second-class citizen, everyone is Iraqi citizens first degree."

"We have also made clear our position on the referendum on the fate of the Kurdistan region, which we stressed that the Iraqi constitution is the legal reference adopted by the federal government and that all Iraqi parties to abide by its provisions and respect its provisions and not to take unilateral steps."

Al-Hadithi called on everyone to "strengthen the spirit of national unity and avoid such statements and positions that lead to stirring up differences among citizens."

The Kurdistan Regional Government intends to start a referendum on secession from Iraq. The announcement of the referendum date in September raises international and regional political controversy. Turkey, Iran, America and Russia declared their refusal to separate the Kurds from Iraq.
