Heavy clashes between Federal Police, ISIS in Mosul's Bab al-Baid

The Iraqi Federal police have engaged in fierce battles to retake Bab al-Baid town and Hamidin Mosque in the Old City of Mosul in the right bank of Mosul, a security source told The Baghdad post Friday.

He added that the troops are fighting against ISIS terrorists in Bab al-Baid town, Bab al-Jadid district, and Bab al-Tob area before they reach to their vital place in Aserjkhanh area.

In a statement, the Iraqi Federal police announced that the troops have advanced 100 meters toward the south of the Old City of Mosul near Ziewanie Mosque, and killed several ISIS terrorists.

These efforts come as part of an offensive launched on 19th of February by the US-backed Iraqi forces, supported by the Iranian-backed sectarian IMIS Shiite militias, to oust ISIS terrorists from Mosul, their last major stronghold in Iraq.
