Basra airport management announces the launch of a new air line with Antalya International Airport

The airport has witnessed the opening of an air route between the province and the Turkish city of Antalya. The airport is in a state of continuous expansion and it receives tens of thousands of passengers every month, the airport administration said.
Airport Director Samir Younis said that the air route was inaugurated today between Basra International Airport and Antalya International Airport, with one journey to transport the passengers weekly, pointing out that the new route represents the second destination to Turkey, where there is a passenger line between Basra and Istanbul.
Yunus pointed out that the plane that carried out the first flight to Antalya International Airport is a type of (Boeing 737) owned by Iraqi Airways and leased to a private company, adding that Basra International Airport is witnessing a significant expansion in its work, where he received more than 150 thousand passengers during the previous two months , And is expected to receive the same number in the next few weeks due to increased travel coincides with the summer vacation.
The airport manager said that Qatar Airways will increase the number of flights through Basra International Airport starting from the beginning of next month from ten flights a week to 14 flights, adding that the Egyptian airline is expected to travel in the near future between Basra International Airport and Cairo International Airport .
The Basra International Airport, established in the 1980s by a German company is the second largest airport in Iraq, with a maximum design capacity of 2.5 million passengers annually, and now includes offices belonging to airlines, including Iraqi Airways, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Flydubai, UAE Airways and Qatar Airways, as well as domestic flights, as well as direct flights to Cairo, Beirut, Amman, Damascus, Dubai, Mashhad, Baku and Istanbul.
