PKK Led the Way to Hashd Al-Shaabi’s Incursion into Sinjar: Official

SINJAR —

The Iraqi Shi’ite paramilitaries known as Hashd al-Shaabi entered Sinjar at the request of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Yezidi region.

Saido Chato, the head of the Brotherhood and Coexistence alliance in Nineveh province told BasNews that PKK led the way to Hashd al-Shaabi’s incursion into Sinjar and helped the paramilitaries reach the Syrian border.

He noted that there is strong cooperation between Hashd al-Shaabi and the PKK forces which has massive detrimental impacts on Yezidis.

Chato explained that PKK is receiving financial assistance from Hashd al-Shaabi and as long as PKK remains in Sinjar, the region won’t witness peace because both sides are endeavouring to destabilise the area.

He noted that “Hashd al-Shaabi have advanced into Sinjar at PKK’s request,” demanding the militia forces and PKK to step out of Sinjar. He also called on Baghdad to stop its support to PKK.
