Federal Police forces are currently pushing deep into the Old city of Mosul district in order to cleanse its homes and alleys from ISIS terrorists, Federal Police Commander Gen. Raed Shakir Jawdat said on Tuesday.

Federal Police forces killed 27 ISIS terrorists and destroyed three booby-trapped vehicles and six motorcycles, Jawdat added.

He revealed that Federal Police forces in the northern front have reached the Tigris river and currently besieging the Republican Hospital at al-Shefaa neighborhood in the right bank of Mosul.

These efforts come as part of an offensive launched on 19th of February by the US-backed Iraqi security forces, supported by the Iranian-backed sectarian IMIS Shiite militias, to oust ISIS terrorists from Mosul, their last major stronghold in Iraq.
