Iraq plans to sell 4 million barrels of Basra crude through the Dubai borse, trade sources said Tuesday.

"Iraq is planning to sell four million barrels of Basra crude for the loading of August on the Dubai Mercantile Exchange on Wednesday," the sources said, stressing that "this is the first sale of Basra's heavy crude through this exchange."

"The size of each shipment of Basrah light and heavy crude is 2 million barrels and the loading will be between August 26 and 28," one source said.

On Monday, April 24, Iraqi oil marketing company SOMO notified long-term buyers that it planned to sell two million barrels of Basrah Light crude, a June shipment, through a tender on the Dubai Mercantile Exchange.
