Dozens of IS Militants Return to Two Liberated Areas in Mosul

A police officer said on Wednesday that dozens of Islamic State (IS) militants had infiltrated into the liberated areas of al-Dandan and al-Sheet in west Mosul.

Capt. Amir Wathiq, an officer from the Iraqi federal police, told BasNews that around a hundred IS gunmen sneaked into Dandan and Sheet districts where they stormed houses, executed six civilians and set a number of houses and civilian cars ablaze.

He explained that severe clashes are still continuing between the militants and the federal police forces backed by air support.

The warplanes bombed al-Dandan Mosque, which was controlled by the insurgents, pointing out that the area of Dandan is one of the first areas liberated by the security forces in southwestern Mosul.
