IOM Provides Necessary Medical Supplies to Hospital in Erbil

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced on Monday they have provided necessary medical supplies to a major dialysis unit in the Kurdistan Region's capital city of Erbil, with the help of Kuwaiti financing.

IOM office in Erbil released a statement on Monday, saying that in order to fulfil the dire needs of the dialysis unit in the Jumhouria Hospital in Erbil, the organization has provided life-saving supplies, financed by neighboring Kuwait.

According to the statement, Dr. Farid Mohammad, head of the unit, said that thanks to the newly-arrived supplies, provided by IOM, the medical staff in the hospital would be able to offer life-saving services to patients affected by the ongoing conflict in Iraq for three months ahead. The hospital provides free medical services to around 100 patients weekly, including not only to displaced Iraqi civilians, but also to refugees coming from Syria.

More than $4 million were donated by Kuwait, in order to support the IOM efforts to assist the displaced Iraqis from Mosul and other areas of Iraq, affected by the ongoing military campaign in the country, and mostly the operation to liberate the city of Mosul from the so-called Islamic State (IS).
