Iraq's military continues its push deep into the remaining neighborhoods that are still under ISIS' control in western Mosul as the terrorist group is no longer in control of western Mosul except inside the Old City and parts of the al-Shifaa neighborhood, a military source said on Sunday.

The government forces have recaptured most of western Mosul's districts months after the battle to liberate the city began, backed by US-led Coalition.

The source said that the Iraqi forces continue incursion into al-Shifaa neighborhood while the army's explosive disposal team was clearing landmines, booby traps and ISIS' explosive remnants in al-Zanjili district as well as saving stranded families.

This comes as Iraqi forces announced on Saturday the full recapture of al-Zanjili district, located in Mosul's Old City.

These efforts come as part of an offensive launched on 19th of February by US-backed security forces, supported by Iranian-backed sectarian IMIS Shiite militias to oust ISIS terrorists from Mosul, their last major stronghold in Iraq.
