Iraq’s PM Abadi and Barzani Discuss Situation in Iraq


Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi and Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani discussed the latest political, security and economic situation in Iraq.

In a phone call on Saturday, Barzani and Abadi discussed the overall political, security and economic situation in the country, according to a statement by the Iraqi PM’s media office.

The two leaders also touched on the latest developments in the battle of Mosul and the victories achieved against the Islamic State (IS) extremist group. They commended the continued and high coordination between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces in the operations to liberate the rest of the areas and eliminate the extremist organization.

The pair also emphasised on the importance of unifying the ranks and keeping away from all that affects the perpetuation of the momentum of the victories in the battle against terror while the forces are close to achieving the final victory over terrorism and restoring stability in the liberated areas.
