Bomb Attack on Kirkuk Oil Pipeline Foiled

Kurdish Peshmerga forces on Thursday successfully defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the Islamic State (IS) jihadists to harm Kirkuk oil pipelines, officials confirmed.

According to military sources cited by Kurdistan24, the explosives were planted between Bai Hassan and Qaracham oil pipelines to damage them both at once.

However, the Peshmerga military engineering units successfully defused the bomb with zero damage.

The IS insurgents are believed to have been sneaking into the area through the nearby villages to carry out the attack.A source explained to Kurdistan24 that the area is not flat and it is difficult to fully secure it against the IS militants.
