Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday expressed his pleasure with setting the date for holding the referendum on independence of Kurdistan from Iraq. Barzani wrote on his Twitter account "I am pleased to announce that the date for the independence referendum has been set for Monday, September 25, 2017."
The date for the survey was determined today during a meeting of political parties in the Kurdistan Region which was led by Barzani.
Also in the meeting the participants agreed on running the referendum on independence of Kurdistan from Iraq in the Kurdistan Region and the disputed areas.
The date for holding the general and presidential polls was also set for November 6 this year.
