Gorran Refuses to Attend Multilateral Meeting on Independence




ERBIL — The Change (Gorran) Movement has announced that it will not participate in a multilateral meeting on independence referendum, an official confirmed.

BasNews previously reported that Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani has called on the Kurdish political parties to attend a meeting on Wednesday for discussions over an imminent referendum on Kurdistan Region independence process from Iraq.Goran

Spokesperson Shorish Haji later told his party’s media outlets that Gorran is invited to the meeting, but that it will not take part.

However, officials from other political parties have ensured that they will be part of the discussions on Wednesday as they believe the issue is related to the national interests of Kurdistan.

Sa’di Ahmed Pira, a politburo member in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), previously told BasNews that the independence referendum is of paramount importance and it must not be affected by disputes parties are experiencing on other topics.
