Barzani Restates Need to Dry out Extremism Resources




Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani reiterated on Tuesday that the resources of extremism ideology have to be dried off.


President Barzani made the remark as he received a senior delegation form the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in his office in Pirmam Parish, Erbil.

In the meeting with the Indian secretary of economic relations, Amar Sinha, and at the presence of India's ambassador to Baghdad, Pradeep Rajpurohit and the country's consul in Erbil, Deepak Miglani, Barzani discussed the threats of terrorism ideology and the measures to confront them on global and regional levels.


The official also exchanged views over the the developments in the battle against the Islamist jihadists in Iraq's Nineveh province and President Barzani pointed out terrorism cannot be overcome militarily alone, stressing the international community needs to fight the extremism ideology.


Also in the meeting, the Indian delegation voiced their country's willingness to promote bilateral ties with the Kurdistan Region.


President Barzani also praised people of India for their struggle for freedom and indicated that Kurdistan Region hopes for improving relations with India in various sectors.
