Assassinations' rear ugly head in Mosul – source

A wave of assassinations, conducted by "unidentified armed men", has came to the fore in Mosul's left bank, security sources told The Baghdad Post on Friday.

In a press statement, Captain Farouq Omar said that unidentified armed men have assassinated al-Tadrisi Raad Fadel near his house in Muthana district before fleeing to an unknown destination.

He revealed that Mosul city has witnessed a number of assassinations over the past 24 hours.

Ma'an Samir, a university student; Mohamed Najdi, a jeweler; and Ayoub Hassan; a worker, all have been assassinated in different neighborhoods located in the northern and eastern axes of the city, he added.

The districts that have seen the return of assassinations are under the control of the Iraqi army and other security forces.

It is estimated that there are a few of ISIS terrorists left in Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq. It is expected that they will desperately defend the last pocket of the city that has been once their main stronghold in Iraq.
