Iran never interfered in Iraq's affairs, Iraqi FM claims

Iraqi foreign minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari has repeated his claims that Iran never meddled in the affairs of Baghdad.

Since the US-led invasion in 2003, Iran has never meddled in the internal affairs of Iraq, he said, adding there are no Iranian weaponry or militias who came and carried out attacks inside our country.

He went on to say Iran is a neighboring country and 'deals with Iraq in a civilized way'.

Iran supported Iraq, stood by it and helped it forge relationships with neighboring countries, Jaafari confirmed, claiming Iran represents no threat to the countries of the region.

Tehran is part of the Middle East, the minister stated, noting it looks forward to end axes-based policies which undermine stability in the region.

Fear from Iran is unjustified, the pro-Iran official concluded.
