Baghdad / term

Iyad Allawi, the Vice President of the Republic, his position on the postponement of local elections and merged with the legislative elections , he explained. He stressed that those demands come to make way for public participation and wide efforts to reduce material costs.
He called on the Vice President of the Republic, on a visit to the province of Wasit, to the postponement of provincial councils and merge them with the legislative elections to be held in April 2018.
Since the date of the 20th of last April, local governments entered into a constitutional vacuum due to the end of the mandate of the councils. The House of Representatives stands bewildered to address this vacuum witnessed by the provinces for the first time since its inception in 2003.
Although determining the next September as the date for local elections, but the political, legal and logistical data preclude local voting in its history.
200 foot deputy requests, on May 19 last, to the presidency of parliament to freeze the issuance of a formula whereby the work of the provincial councils, that the House of Representatives shall be responsible for managing the affairs of the provincial councils , rather than legal , which ended its mandate on the twentieth of the month of April. It is scheduled local elections for provincial councils in the conduct of the 16th of
September next.
A statement by the Office of the Vice President of the Republic, I got (range) a copy of it yesterday, " The media attributed to Allawi 's call for the postponement of the elections , without specifying what the intended elections."
The statement added Allawi 's office " in view of the escalating debate over the electoral subject we would like to reaffirm the stability of the position of Dr. Iyad Allawi to postpone provincial elections across the country, and hold them in conjunction with the House of Representatives elections on schedule next year."
He said Allawi 's office said the "call comes in order to reduce efforts and costs, and ensure the unity of the election, pending the enactment of a new electoral law, and the replacement of the current commission, in addition to reaching a state of political stability and security to enable all Iraqis to participate in the selection of their representatives."
