Iraq looking for traces of smuggling in the UAE

Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Thursday discussed with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash to boost bilateral ties and help Iraq recover its smuggled effects.

A foreign ministry statement said Jaafari received UAE Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash on the sidelines of the International Conference on Victims of Racial and Religious Violence in the Middle East held in Madrid.

"During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between Iraq and the UAE, activating common interests, confronting the common dangers between the two countries, efforts exerted in the war against terrorist gangs and stressing the exchange of visits between officials of the two countries."

"The two sides also discussed the importance of activating the work of the joint committee between the two brotherly countries as soon as possible to open new horizons for joint cooperation and contribute to the investment and reconstruction of the infrastructure of Iraqi cities after the elimination of terrorist gangs."

He added that "it was also stressed the need to facilitate the granting of access to Iraqis wishing to visit the United Arab Emirates, and help Iraq in retrieving the smuggled effects"
