Opening a new commercial port between Iraq and Iran

The Ministry of Interior has agreed to open a new border crossing between Iraq and Iran for commercial exchange.

"The Iraqi Interior Ministry has agreed to reopen the common border in the town of Dahlran," said Hussein Ali Moussavi, governor of the town of Dahlran in southwestern Iran, in a press statement announcing the start of trade exchange between Iran and Iraq via the border crossing of Cheelat.

The Iranian official stressed the importance of this step in the recruitment of border opportunities available in Dahlan in favor of the desired economic objectives, and securing employment opportunities in this Iranian town.

The town of Dahlan is 220 km from the Iran-Iraq border.

The commercial attache at the Iraqi embassy in Tehran, Shaker Razak, announced on 28 April that Iran is the third exporter of goods to Iraq.
