Trade: We seek to develop relations with Pakistan

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Walid Habib al-Moussawi, said that Iraq's view of the economic situation differed after 2003. The two countries are old because they are Muslim countries, and Iraq and Pakistan have suffered from terrorism for a long time, which affected the export and import operations, which we seek through our presence to develop and strengthen.

Meanwhile, Chargé d'Affaires of the Pakistani Embassy in Iraq, Iqbal Hussain, stressed the possibility of cooperation between the two sides in various fields, especially since Pakistan is a large country that has many rivers, which contributed to the development of agriculture, especially the world-famous basmati rice, as well as fresh food products and spare parts.

The Pakistani side has long sought to visit Iraq with a delegation of various specialties, including rice, textiles, medical devices, sports supplies and other specialties. Baghdad and Islamabad are linked to good political relations before and after 2003, and Pakistan always declares its desire to develop relations at all levels with Iraq, especially in the economic fields to benefit from the facilities that may be provided by the Iraqi side in the agreements, especially economic and trade, while the most prominent aspect in the development of relations between the two countries after 2003 is a message Of the Pakistani parliament addressed to Iraq on August 16, 2008, to strengthen relations and raise them to high levels from the historical relations between the two countries, while hailing the Iraqi government to form a Ministry of Human Rights is the first in the region.

The two sides signed on 25-3-2013 an agreement to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries. It was also agreed to sign four other agreements in the economic and trade fields between Baghdad and Islamabad, followed by ministerial meetings held to follow up and strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
