IMIS defies Abadi, storms Tal Afar

Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) announced on Friday the launch of an offensive to oust ISIS terrorists from Tal Afar, ignoring orders by PM Haider Abadi not to storm the city.
A statement by IMIS media office said that several militia brigades are advancing towards Um al-Shbabeit village in Tal Afar as part of an offensive code-named "Mohamed Rasul Allah al-Thaneya" in partnership with the Iraqi army.
These moves oppose Commander of IMIS terror militia, Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes' orders to his terrorists to get out of Tal Afar in conformity with PM Haider al-Abadi's instructions in order not to get IMIS in clashes with Turkish troops.
Abadi's orders came after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised concerns about the advance of a Shia militia towards the Tal Afar district of Iraq’s Mosul province.
“Tal Afar is a very sensitive issue for us. We definitely do not regard it [IMIS' involvement] positively in Tal Afar and Sinjar. I already told this to officials clearly," Erdogan said in October 2016 in a meeting with a Turkmen delegation.
He added, “Tal Afar is a totally Turkmen city, with half Shia and half Sunni Muslims. We do not judge people by their religious affiliation, we regard them all as Muslims.”
“But if IMIS terrorizes the region, our response would be different.”
Erdogan also said that the predominantly Turkmen town of Tal Afar should be liberated by Turkmens.
