Turkey renewed shelling of northern Iraq

Turkish warplanes renewed bombing sites in northern Iraq, Ankara says it belonged to the PKK.

The Turkish army said in a statement that Turkish planes bombed Kurdish militants in northern Iraq on Wednesday, killing six of them in a widening campaign against the PKK in Turkey.

The statement said airstrikes targeted Zab region and is the name of the river running through the Turkish-Iraqi border.

Turkey had announced yesterday that the fighters carried out raids on areas of northern Iraq and Sinjar Jebel Kara chowk in northern Syria to "destroy terrorist nests belonging to the PKK organization and led to the deaths of 70 an element of the party."
