Iraq and IMF discuss second review of credit program

Representatives of the Iraqi government headed by Finance Minister Abdul Razzaq al-Issa discussed Friday with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the second review of the credit program.


"A senior Iraqi delegation participated in the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank currently being held in Washington," the Information Office of the Minister of Finance said in a statement that the Iraqi delegation was headed by "the Minister of Finance and the Agency of the Governor of Iraq at the World Bank Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa and in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq Ali Al-Aalak and adviser to the Prime Minister for financial affairs, the appearance of Mohammed Saleh and agents and directors of the Ministries of Finance and Electricity and the Central Bank of Iraq.


"The delegation discussed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) team headed by the IMF's Managing Director, Christian Goose, the Second Review of the SBA between Iraq and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank currently held in Washington, 2017."


On March 17, 2017, the financial advisor to the prime minister, Mohamed Saleh, confirmed the success of the consultations on the credit standoff between the Iraqi government and the International Monetary Fund, saying that whoever spoke otherwise was "the fifth columnist."
